Midlands Air Ambulance Charity MAAC) is recruiting a new Trustee/Non-Executive Director to join our Board — an opportunity arising through natural succession (the end of a Trustee's term) and as part of the Charity's ongoing commitment to a skilled and diverse Board. Becoming a Trustee for MAAC will give you the opportunity to use your professional skills and life experience to make a demonstrable impact, helping us to provide outstanding helicopter-led medical services now and in the future.
We are looking for an accomplished, values-led individual with a strong record of senior leadership, gained in the public, private or third sector, and either proven board-level experience or the clear potential to contribute effectively in a board environment. You will bring sound judgement, strategic thinking and the confidence to provide constructive challenge, alongside a genuine commitment to MAAC's lifesaving mission.
First-time Trustees are warmly encouraged to apply — a structured induction, including a two-day governance programme, is provided. A close connection to Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands or Worcestershire is desirable but not essential.
This is a voluntary role requiring approximately 10–12 days a year, including four Board meetings, four Committee meetings and an annual Away Day.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is an independent healthcare provider of helicopter-led emergency medical services, delivering specialist care to patients at the scene of serious incidents across the Midlands.

Rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), we provide a rapid emergency response 24 hours a day, 365 days a year across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire — serving a population of around seven million people.
Our highly skilled critical care paramedics and doctors trained in pre-hospital emergency medicine bring hospital-level procedures, equipment and medicines directly to patients at the scene. Whether responding by helicopter or in one of our fleet of critical care cars, our teams deliver advanced treatment where it matters most, helping to give patients the best possible chance of survival and recovery.
Each year it costs £20 million to maintain our helicopters, critical care cars and the people behind this lifesaving service. On average, our teams reach patients within ten minutes, delivering expert care when every moment counts.

Our helicopter-led service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with specialist paramedics and doctors bringing hospital-level procedures, equipment and medicines directly to patients - helping give them the best possible chance of survival and recovery.
Community Engagement and Charitable Activity
We raise vital funds to sustain our lifesaving service and play an active role in the communities we serve. Through education programmes, volunteering opportunities and social engagement initiatives, we contribute to community cohesion and wellbeing across the region.
Retail Operations
Our network of Charity shops plays a key role in funding helicopter and critical care car missions. These operations also support environmental sustainability and wider social value through reuse and ethical retailing.
Training and Education
We deliver Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accredited training programmes ranging from workplace first aid to specialist pre-hospital clinical training. Our offer supports both healthcare professionals and members of the public, alongside community life skills training in CPR, bleed control and defibrillator use.
